The leaders in linerless and pack inspection systems, Ravenwood Packaging Limited, has appointed Sam Aloschi in the role of Asia/Pacific Managing Director.
Sam will be managing business operations in this region, going forward. The new appointment is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the rapidly expanding UK based packaging and labelling company.
Sam brings more than 24 years’ experience with a proven track record in the food packaging sector to Ravenwood, as he now becomes a pivotal member of the team, in joining the company’s Board of Directors. Previously, Sam was Head of Site for Retail Ready Operations in the Coles Group, and prior to this, he was the National Retail Manufacturing Manager at Coles.
Sam has also held the position of General Manager of Operations at Beak & Johnson (one of Australasia’s leading value-add food producers) and, prior to this, he was General Manager of Operations at Peters Meats (Australia’s largest chain of privately-owned butcher shops and delicatessens).
With Sam based in Sydney, Australia, the new appointment will see him lead the delivery of Ravenwood’s ambitious growth plans in the Asia/Pacific region, supporting its linerless and pack inspection distributor network, through an ever changing and increasingly challenging supply chain environment. Covid-19 has majorly impacted the global economy but Australia has also faced crippling bush fires, and the subsequent effect on its farming infrastructure.
Sam Aloschi, newly appointed Asia/Pacific MD said: “It’s a huge honour to have been appointed Asia/Pacific Managing Director at Ravenwood, especially at such an exciting time for the company. We are beginning to see a marked increase in linerless, especially in Australia. With strong foundations for this growth, I am confident that we can continue to build on this success and drive our strategic vision forward.”
Ravenwood has an impressive global machinery and printer network. Linerless in Australia is gradually becoming more established, as the label of choice for many food manufacturers. The market here currently centres around the meat and fish industries but plant based is rapidly gaining in popularity. Australia is now the 3rd fastest growing vegan market in the world. Ravenwood has two linerless label distributors based in Australia; Hally Labels, located in Queensland and LMA (Label Manufacturers Australia) based in Melbourne. Both offer world-class print facilities.
Ravenwood is constantly striving to improve its linerless standards, for creating more accurate and sustainable labelling solutions. The company has just launched its own brand thermal ribbon with speed and quality of print being the two main key performance indicators. These USPs provide a competitive edge, when comparing to other thermal ribbon. In addition to the ribbon, the company has just added two new label materials to its approved materials list. After extensive testing, the YUPO, RWU130 white film product and Antalis’ Black Label Gloss are now available. Both offer excellent printability for ensuring a high quality finish to any print. Both materials are exclusive to Ravenwood and provide further example of the company’s ongoing development to best support its linerless solution, and printer partners. Aptly named, ‘The Circle of Linerless’.
Paul Beamish, founder and UK based MD said: “It is with great pleasure that I can announce the opening of our Ravenwood subsidiary in Australia. I am thrilled that Sam Aloschi, with his many years of experience in the Australian food industry, will be heading up this new team. It is our aim to better service the Australian and New Zealand market place, and our key customers. The investment shown by our print partners Hally Labels in Brisbane and LMA in Melbourne, in our Ravenwood Coaters and approved materials, is bringing dividends to the quality and choice of linerless labels available to run on Ravenwood applicators. To add to this, with a dedicated Ravenwood Australia for sales of new and preloved machines, parts and consumables, along with Ravenwood factory trained and supported engineers, it completes the Ravenwood ‘Circle of Linerless’. This all-inclusive support system guarantees complete confidence when investing in a Ravenwood system.”
Business operations in Australia reflect that of the UK headquarters, with machinery sales, spare parts and service. Sales is headed up by MD, Sam Aloschi and Sales Manager, Bob Elvin with spare parts and service, covered by Customer Support Manager, Ian Towsey and Service Engineer, Bob Towsey.
Established in 2004, Ravenwood Packaging continues to go from strength-to-strength after making a number of strategic new hires over the last two years. The company has also just launched its new linerless sleever, the Nobac 5000.
